A Class 5 Road Test will be required after holding a Class 7 licence for at least a year in order to obtain your Class 5 GDL licence. Alberta will no longer require an Advanced Road Test in order to exit the Graduated Drivers Licence program. This test is now 45 minutes long.

If you’re over the age of 18, have served your probationary period, and maintained a clean driving record for the last 12 months of licensing with no suspensions, demerits or unpaid tickets you will qualify to exit the GDL program and be provided a full Class 5 licence.
